BREATH LIFE INTO OLD PHOTOS OR PAINTED PORTRAITS

The implementation of Ai when combined with traditional Photoshop editing can produce amazing results. And Frank is an expert in this level of editing as shown in these restored images of his ancestors. In the header image, Frank has a tintype photo of his great-grandmother Minnie sitting for a portraiture assumingly with her wealthy Victorian employer.

On the right is Colonel Henry Rundall who is Frank’s 3rd great-grandfather on his maternal mother’s side. Colonel Rundall was a direct descendant of the Clan Sutherland from Scotland who migrated to American abord the ship Henry in 1684. Colonel Rundall comes from three generations of Revolutionary solders who fought during the Revolutionary War of 1812.

This young man was Frank’s 2nd great-grandfather, George Washington Center. Frank inherited dozens of portraitures of his ancestors which he has been lovingly restoring over the course of 2026. Since blue eyes predominately run in Frank’s family, Frank decided to make George’s eyes blue. In southern New York, George worked for the school system as an administrator but eventually moved to Falls Church, Virginia to farm. Frank located George’s death certificate with the help of Ancestry.com, which shows George died of a broken femur and exhaustion. And we think we have it tough today.
